For many years, St. Joseph's has provided financial support from our tithing funds to Dimitri House, whose seven-bed overnight shelter provides hospitality and a warm place to sleep for homeless men during the coldest time of the year.
In addition to the financial support from St. Joseph's, volunteers from our parish serve as ministers of hospitality at the shelter, located at 102 North Union Street, on Tuesday nights during the November to April shelter season.
The duties of ministers of hospitality at Dimitri House are simple and enjoyable: welcoming and socializing with the guests over an evening snack, and preparing and serving them breakfast the following morning before their departure.
If you wish additional information or are willing to serve the homeless at Dimitri House one Tues. night a month, or even two or three times during the shelter season, pleaseĀ email Deacon Duncan Harris 585-586-8089 ext. 113 or you can call DImitri House directly at 325-1796 or
email.
