Ann enjoyed serving her church. Ann and Fred were long-time parishioners of Our Mother of Sorrows in Greece before moving to Penfield 10 years ago and joining St. Joseph’s. Ann served as a greeter and Minister of Communion to the homebound. Ann earned her degree as a Registered Dietician and worked in hospitals and schools. But her favorite job was as a homemaker and stay-at-home mom.
Larry was a US Army veteran. He volunteered for over 20 years with the Penfield Ambulance. Larry was a foster parent for many years with his wife Mary. After retiring and selling his (Penfield Opticians) business, he enjoyed driving a bus for the Fairport School District. He loved watching football and was an avid Buffalo Bills, Clemson and SU fan.
Elaine was a Catholic school teacher for 24 years. It brought her so much joy and fulfillment. Teaching was her passion as was her family. She came to Mass at St. Joseph's Church with her son and daughter- in- law.
Jeremiah was a 1959 graduate of LeMoyne College and a veteran of the US Army. He was an employee of Kodak for 28 years. Jeremiah was a devout Catholic. He loved the 8am mass and staying after for coffee and donuts. He was a St. Joseph parishioner since 2014 when he moved to Penfield.
John was a proud veteran of the Korean War. He was an alumnus and huge fan of the Ohio State University. He worked as an optometrist at Kodak for 29 years. John was a resident of Penfield and a parishioner of St. Joseph's for 57 years. His children attended St. Joseph School. John worked on many parish committees over the years including the finance committee when we were building the "New Church". He and Patricia were devoted to Mary.
Frances became a member of St. Joseph's Church when the family moved to Penfield in 1957. Family and cooking/baking were very important to her. Not only did she love to cook for her family, but she also spent most of her career in the Penfield Central School system as a cook manager preparing meals for the children and staff in her school as if it was for her family. She was very proud of having served as the cook manager for the campers and staff of the Rotary Sunshine Camp Haccomo for many summers, sharing her love of cooking with some very special people.
Dick became a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in 1963. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He was a past-president, treasurer, and coach for the Penfield Little League. Dick was an engineer with Pfaudler Inc. for most of his career. Dick was a veteran of the Korean War having served as a radio operator.
A proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Donald taught Business at Penfield High School for many years. He was a parishioner since 1964 and their children all attended St Joseph School. He participated in daily Mass at 6:30am before his day began at Penfield High School (with his boys altar serving). He was involved with Phillip the Van and the food ministry.
Dee was a nurse. She worked in obstetrics and loved helping to deliver babies. She also worked in the hospital on medical/surgical floors and inpatient psychiatric units. Dee then worked as a school nurse and spent the rest of her career at Scribner Road Elementary School. DeLona’s Catholic faith was very important to her, and she was an active member of St. Joseph’s Parish for 57 years. She volunteered at St. Joseph School and at Shepherd Home.
Maryanne was dedicated to education. She was a proud alumna from Nazareth Academy ('54) and Nazareth College ('58). Maryanne enjoyed teaching chemistry at Geneseo Central School District. She devoted many years as the Associate Director of Admissions at Nazareth College. She was active in St. Joseph's Parish in Penfield, NY. Maryanne also volunteered for League of Women Voters.
Marie was a 1957 graduate of Highland Hospital School of Nursing and retired from the Genesee Hospital after 35 years of nursing. A parishioner of St. Joseph’s since 1971 (50+ years), her daughter and her granddaughters attended St Joseph School; she participated in the Monday Small Group and other adult studies; she cooked for RAIHN and prepared lunches for our homeless outreach; she helped with the coffee hours after Sunday masses for several years; was our summer faith formation nurse in the past; and was devoted to the Eucharist and attending Mass.
Al retired from Xerox after 31 years of service. In retirement he joined the Legion of Mary. Al remained an active member for the remainder of his life. For nursing home residents, Al would play the guitar, sing and pray the Rosary with them. Al also became a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an active supporter of Indian missions and international education.
Helen graduated from Nazareth Academy and received her B.S. from Nazareth College in Nursing. Upon graduation, she worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in the premature nursery. She volunteered with many organizations such as Meals on Wheels (for 50 years) and Good Samaritan. Helen was faith-filled, attended parochial elementary and high school and attended weekly Mass.
Tom was in the investment business – He founded Cambridge Financial. He started attending St. Joe’s about 4 years ago. He went to Transfiguration for many years prior to that. He had a Parochial education K-12 (OLPH, AQ) and then St. John Fisher. Tom attended every charity golf tournament!
Arline worked for the Penfield Town Court as a court clerk for over 20 years. She earned the lifetime achievement award for the Italian American Center. She dedicated her life to assisting in charitable organizations such as Angels of Mercy, Veterans Outreach program, Homeless Women’s Shelter and Willow Domestic Violence Center.
Margaret was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Church since 1960. She was a sacristan and attended Mass for as long as she could, usually with friends. She loved children and teaching – taught preschoolers about the Word of God through arts and crafts for 26 years. Margaret retired from Sibley’s as a bookkeeper right before the store closed.
Mary and husband David have been parishioners at St. Joseph’s from 1970 to present. Both sons went to CCD and were confirmed at St. Joseph. Mary had regular attendance to Sunday Mass until Covid. When her boys were younger, she was a Cub Scout den leader.
Andy enrolled in Saint John Fisher College in the Fall of 1951 and graduated with a B.B.A degree in accounting as a member of the very first graduating class of Saint John Fisher College in 1955. He began working at AC Rochester Division of General Motors Corporation in May of 1955, retiring in September 1991. (From June 1956 until June 1958, he served in the U.S. Army as an accountant during the Korean War.) In 1975, Andy, Alice and their family became parishioners of St. Joseph’s church, where Andy served as usher for many years.
Lillian passed away one month shy of her 100th birthday! She was a friend to many and brightened the days of her fellow residents at Crest Manor. Lillian was a parishioner at St Joe’s since 1996. After moving into Crest Manor in 2019 she still watched St Joe’s masses on a computer. Lillian always prayed for everyone in the family. Each morning she would pray for 2 hours before starting her day.
Joe was a banking Executive for over 40 years and retired while still being called upon for his knowledge of Fiduciary Tax Law. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Joe was a parishioner at St. Joe’s since 2005.
